There is quite a number of Mastercard credit cards for English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish costumers. There is no single card that is suitable for everyone's needs. Everyone has a different reason, why they need a credit card. Here is a small mini FAQ of card terminology to get you started. Once you understand all terms, you can compare them and apply for the best offer available on this site.

What is the Annual Fee? - Depending on issuer some credit card providers may charge a fee charged on a yearly basis. Some issuers choose not to charge any amount. This latter type is called the no annual fee credit card.

What is APR? - The Annual Percentage Rate is a measure of the cost of credit, expressed as a yearly rate. You can get a "fixed" or "variable" rates.

What is a Balance Transfer? - Many credit cards will allow you to transfer part or all of your existing debt from one credit card to the one you have with them. This is usually done because the new credit card will have a lower APR or has some other service that makes this feature attractive.

What is a Credit Ceiling? - Credit card issuers usually set a maximum amount on the credit available to a card holder.

What is a Grace Period? - Credit card companies offer different lengths of time that your purchase does not incur an interest charge.

What is a Minimum Payment? - Almost all credit cards require some kind of payment every month. If they don't require you to pay the entire Balance then they will notify you what the minimum payment is for that month. Usually, it's some percentage of the outstanding Balance.
